An £18m 100,000sqft Headquarters office for Imperial Tobacco, is set over 4 floors with associated car parking, energy centre and landscaping. The building is being future proofed for higher occupation densities. Public art is being incorporated, which will also be visible from the main road; the purpose of this is to enhance the approach to the building focusing on the main entrance.
AWW has put sustainability at the heart of the scheme with a high quality, energy efficient, contemporary building which will achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’. 500sqm of photovoltaic cells are being located on the roof, and an energy centre with bio-mass boiler and aduct reservation will enable the building to be connected to a district CHP system in the future. AWW’s approach to the fire strategy will allow for further subdivision of the building, making the current floor plate extremely flexible.
