The site is located in the area of Seladia, near the village of Naousa in Paros island.
It is a rocky site, with a small olive grove at the north end.
The house consists of the main house, a two storey volume and a single storey guest house.
The two volumes are placed in the center of the site, following its natural inclination, in an escalating layout. As a result, the main courtyard extends over the guesthouse’s terrace.
The two buildings are positioned in such a way, to allow privacy and independence, while giving space for interaction and communication through the central courtyard.
References to a Modern Cycladic Architecture are apparent and traditional elements are transformed using a more contemporary language, while following the main principles of vernacular architecture such as: proportions, mass, façade aesthetics, courtyards, integration in the landscape.
The use of inclined walls intensifies the plasticity of the forms, as a reference to similar vernacular buildings (monasteries). Limited openings are cut out of each volume, enhancing their tectonic nature and following basic bioclimatic principles.
