HOTEL ROCCOFORTE RESORT

The “Verdura Golf & Spa Resort” is a scheme for a luxury tourist complex for Rocco Forte Hotels on the southern coast of Sicily close to Sciacca, 30 km from Agrigento. The area concerned consists of 230 hectares of Mediterranean countryside facing onto the crystalline waters of the sea of Sicily. The scheme is characterized by respectful and minimal exploitation of the land, that emphasizes quality building and a virtuous relationship between buildings and the environment. The plan includes the building of 56 luxury villas, conceived as a spontaneous aggregation of houses, immersed in the Mediterranean landscape that recall the traditional farm buildings of the region, a hotel with 200 rooms, varying in size and level, conceived in two different architectural parts, a SPA made up of 12 pavilions and a business centre. In term of form, the design tends to avoid the use of rigid geometric layouts and evokes a traditional Mediterranean atmosphere through the choice of materials (volcanic drystone walling and rendered surfaces).
