On the outskirts of the residential area in rural Lafelt in the municipality of Riemst, where also the office of Egide Meertens is situated, the house has been renovated in a very stylish way. In the covered entrance area, a semi-private, semi-public space, the run line is rotated 90° to prevent people from looking directly into the living area. The living area consists of two sitting rooms connected by way of a see-through fireplace. One sitting room, situated at a higher level, is only lit by a skylight and has as a result a more intimate character. The other sitting room looks out onto the open fields and the kitchen/diner. The inside window on the night landing looking out – when leaning down – onto the private sitting room, merges with the outside window of the patio, which is directed towards the ironing/spare room. Along the small outside window, light enters the intimate sitting room. Bath tub and bathroom furniture merge into one detached bathroom unit.
