When the owners of a Bed & Breakfast located in Utrecht's classic Gregorious building wished to build a kitchen of minimal design yet with maximum effect, MEME design was asked to see it happen.
The aesthetic and usability of the NUUUN brand was exactly what architect Gerrit Vos (Workshop of Wonder Studios) had been looking for to implement his idea of a modern kitchen that would shed new light on a historic space.
Due to the nature of MEME's mix and match solutions, Vos was able to combine a solid island of satin white Corian and continuous smoked-oak veneer then back-drop it with a separate floor to ceiling cabinet.
What is unique is that until you need it, nothing is revealed at first. Only the sunken GAGGANEAU cooker is evident, whilst everything else needed for a thoroughly modern workspace is hidden within the block, including a WAVE ventilation hood. This allows the user optimum space when desired.
The cabinet, also finished in smoked-oak veneer includes a GAGGANEAU oven and steam oven. Like the island the cabinet is fitted with LED back lighting and is opened by BLUM touch systems.
The handmade craftsmanship is evident in the seamless 45 degree angles of both the island and the cabinet. This adds to the one block illusion, which will stand both the trends and traces of time.
