The Government Office Building is a smart, high profile building that is easily accessible, environmentally sensitive and economically responsible. KANNFINCH delivered both the architectural design and the internal fit-out of this award-winning building, which incorporates customised fit-outs for the Sydney Catchment Authority, the Department of Community Services, and the Office of Fair Trading. The seven storey building successfully integrates a new government facility in the Western Sydney region and is a gateway statement to the Penrith CBD. One of the key design challenges was to devise customized yet flexible internal spaces within a constrained budget.

The building successfully incorporates a number of sustainability initiatives such as operable sun shading, weathering steel façade, water harvesting and re-use, photovoltaics, and energy monitoring systems. An operational energy efficiency level higher than the 4.5 ABGR design rating was achieved in the first quarter of operations.
The Penrith Government Office Building won the Penrith City Council Excellence Award in 2009.
