Situated on the corner of King Street and Flinders Street at the Waterside Hotel, the Galley Room’s interiors are inspired by the building’s rich history, delivering an old world bar with an elegant, modern touch. Established in 1837, this majestic hotel with Victorian, diamond shaped windows serviced dockworkers delivering goods to Melbourne’s ports.
Today, the Galley Room functions as a cocktail bar for high-‐end clientele, featuring group seating and intimate breakout areas for gatherings around the fireplace. A dark marble bar pays homage to the building’s Victorian, diamond shaped window design. Custom carpet and low leather, diamond-‐buttoned upholstered banquettes reflect this inspiration through patterns, textures and materials. Hand crafted stools and tables feature turned legs with angles and curves reminiscent of Victorian craftsmanship. An abacus entry screen introduces the space and references trade exchanges in the Victorian era.
