During 2012 Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer underwent a refurbishment of their principal offices in London at 65 Fleet Street. Commerical design experts Brown & Carroll ran the project and called on Eric Wilson Fabrications to fabricate and install the Corian®.
Four beautiful reception desks are at the heart of the redesign. The main reception desk that welcomes clients and two further reception desks on both client meeting floors combine Bone Corian® with lacquered copper inlays in softly curved shapes.
A further reception desk maintains the theme of a layered front and soft curved ends but this time Glacier White Corian® is used to give a cleaner look for Freshfields’ employees visiting the in-house staff gym. The smooth curves on each of the reception desks were made using several different sized moulds and specialist thermoforming tools.
In the client meeting rooms nearly 50 credenzas of varying sizes were produced using the same Bone Corian® and copper inlays. Each credenza has Corian® doors and drawer fronts as well as end panels to create the effect of solid and seamless blocks.
Glacier White Corian® was also used to house the seating the areas in the client waiting areas as well as for the vanity tops in the toilets back down in the gym.
As this project proves, versatile Corian® can be used in combination with other materials for a gorgeous, high class finish. It can also be easily professionally thermoformed to add curves. Corian® is non-porous and resistant to scratches, making it a hardy and durable material that is perfect for high traffic areas. Corian® colours run throughout this solid surface so they will not fade under lights. Its non-porous nature also makes it easy to clean and maintain so it remains looking as stylish day after day.
