Leading research meets flooring of the future
“Bolon’s flooring was part of the development process from the beginning,” explains Luis Pedra Silva, architect and founder of Pedra Silva Arquitectos, with regard to his interior design assignment for Europe’s leading research institute Fraunhofer. The institute, which has divisions throughout the world, recently opened a facility in Porto, Portugal, at the city’s technical university. The building and its interior largely consist of white surfaces and large glass partitions. Bolon’s Botanic collection created continuity in the decor and serves as a physical route guide through the building. The collection is also used as an innovative feature on walls and ceiling in a meeting room – an area that is now one of the busiest and most popular rooms in the building. “Bolon is a future company in many ways, they offer functional, user-friendly products with great design flexibility and they are way ahead in terms of environmental improvements,” concludes Luis Pedra Silva.
