Kudremukh town has derived its name from a mountain range in Chikmagalur district, Karnataka India. It is a small town situated near Aroli-Gangamoola range, about 50 Km from Karkal and about 20 Km from Kalsa. The name Kuduremukh (as it is known by the natives) literally means 'horse-face' (in the local language Kannada) and refers to a particular picturesque view of a side of the mountain that resembles the same. The town of Kudremukh is primarily an iron ore mining town under the possession of KIOCL (Formerly known as Kudremukh Iron Ore Company limited), a Govt. of India enterprise, under Ministry of Steel, which was incorporated on 2nd February 1976. ............ ....... The following objectives are defined for the Eco-City Kudremukh. 1.To come out from the stigma of degrading the ambience by creating pollution and reciprocate the nation by gifting India’s first world class Eco-City. 2. To accommodate the existing staff in a site specific designed business. 3. To utilize the existing infrastructure. 4. To develop Kudremukh as an Eco-City and make it priorities plan out holiday destination for the masses. 5. To create Kudremukh as India’s number one holiday destination brand in the country as a tourism spot. 6. To create and sustain tourism as the lead in marketing and communicating tourism destination. 7. To advocate tourism as a diverse and growing sector in the regional economy by providing information about the benefits of tourism. 8. To develop a destination strategic plan and to support partner, for benefit of regional tourism industry. 9. To lead regional tourism partners to develop products and services that meet consumer needs in tourism sector.
