Open Doors To Contemporary Design

Riccardo Giovanetti as Design Connection

With FiloSofia exhibition, La Triennale di Milano and Material ConneXion, provide, for the first time in their history, with an in-depth analysis of the reality of a company originating from a world far from the settled western design establishment, that represents the paradigm of an ever-changing situation in which new Nations and cultures have been facing the scenario of contemporary design as protagonists. FiloSofia takes shape through a specific mounting, a scenography conceived by Riccardo Giovanetti, who stages a charming space made up of suspended threads, lights, images and materials; an ideal setting, capable of evoking the highly creative background in which doors for domestic environment are devised. The exposition place is marked from the rhythm of red strings progression, filling up the whole area over its entire height and tracing out a central space in which the exhibition route sets in. The set up plan develops in a wide, central volume, a structure made of vertical threads cleaving the space lightly and impressively at the same time. The jungle of cables emblematically represents the complexity of relationships typifying the way of working of the company, its distinguishing philosophy as a new design firm coming from an emergent Country. The exhibition is divided into a threefold interpretating path: a central, luminous space in which the starring role is assigned to materials employed for the production of the doors, set out in a “cloud” of samples hung in mid-air. The central area overlooks a wide wall where is depicted a sort of big “atlas” with images and texts showing the main contents of the exhibition. Ultimately, an audiovisual path on the opposite side of the room completes the presentation.
