Feuillantines Tower

Feuillantines Tower

GROUPE H Architecture & Engineering as Architects

Architectural part

The Feuillantines Tower will be a constituent part of the Garden of the Nations project. It will be the part both nearest the place des Nations and, owing to the large expanse of open space surrounding it, the most visible, from all angles – up close and from a distance. The tower will have an original architectural shape that can only enhance this outstanding location. The base will be located along the route de Ferney, occupying 3,420 square meters. A passage will cross through its center creating a link between the route de Ferney and the pedestrian path of the Garden of the Nations to the east. The tower will be 488 meters high and contain 19 floors. The tower is conceived of as a sculpture on a trapezoidal base. Its dimensions will vary depending on the height, going towards a rectangular shape near the middle and then returning to a trapezoid shape by the last floor but with an inversion of the base dimensions. With such a geometric configuration, the tower will give the impression of stretching into the sky. The slanted facades will give the whole tower a more impressive appearance and emphasizes the personality of this emblematic building.

Base

The horizontal base is composed of two levels designed to integrate the building into the inclined terrain that tilts towards the place des Nations. The entrance level from the route de Ferney (at 415 meters above sealevel), includes a pedestrian area with two banks of lifts giving access to the tower as well as to the offices and conference rooms located on the base levels. Such a configuration allows an optimal control of access to the offices owing to the very visible reception desk behind which is an open court that adds extra natural lighting to the surrounding offices. The second level of the base is entirely devoted to office space with the exception of a large hall surrounding the elevator lift shafts, which adds a considerable quantity of volume to the public space. The proposed total office space will be 4,970 square meters.

Underground floors

Under the base there will be a floor with service and technical rooms and archival space on the next three floors. The archival space will occupy 10,260 square meters.

The tower

The part of the tower above ground will contain hotel rooms and apartments with hotel service for tourists. Although different in form, the floors will all have an equal floor space and offer a total surface of 972 square meters, making it possible to accommodate 15-16 rooms and suites on each floor. In keeping with the originality of the overall design, the hotel reception area, restaurant and bar are located on the top floor. With 19 floors, the total surface of the tower is 18,470 square meters.
