FAMILY BOX in Beijing is a early childhood education centre, located in residential area of Central Business District in Beijing. The concept of this centre reflects the idea of colorful trees, in a more abstract way. The centre develops in three stories. The first floor contains main entrance and three pools for children. The second and third floor are organized in fifteen classrooms such as a kitchen, supermarket, music and a dance room, cafeteria and indoor athletic.
The centre’s atmosphere is underlined by colorful cylinders and the spaces remained by them. Twelve cylinders are placed randomly, these are separated half at the center by a corridor as third floor, furthermore, each volume have different free-curved openings. Corridors between cylinders are the spaces which children can see various inclined walls. Thus, overall spaces create not only different visual forms but also different elements of kid’s activities. Whole of space is based on white colour and worm lighting due to featuring each cheerful colored theme of rooms.
The place provides optimal educational environment where children can create various activities and enrich their imagination. In addition, various spaces are equipped with different function to provide a joyful and pleasant space that stimulates the curiosity of children.
