In 2009 studio 02arch has intervened with the intent to humanize through it’s project Buzzi’s hospital in Milan, a medical building for children only. The first step is a reconfiguration of the entrance at the reception: the hard geometry of the spaces and the fragmented distributive layout are rethought by introducing a soft and sinuous line which, like a wave, winds up the different areas and organizes them in a harmonious and unitary space. The new curved walls coloured with vertical bands create a dynamic and various rhythm that befriends the user’s eyes as the functions in the hospital change. The colours chosen for the operation have a crayon feeling. A bright red band is then introduced to mark and point out emergency objects. The new entrance B now appearsas an immediately recognizable space, that through the colour and the curved lines guides the children in the hospital’s wings through small imaginary worlds.
