Designing a Client's Dream

ARQING as Interior Designer

E2 House has been a very interesting project for us. The owner is a nice client we appreciate a lot. He's a Civil Engineer, so we mixed his Civil principles with our Architecture and Interior Design ideas. It's always pleasant to work with professional people that looks for pristine results. We have made previous projects for him, but this one is special because it'll be his own home. For this project we had to listen carefully his needs and his family's to create a comfortable place with wide rooms, corridors, porches, parking space and more.

Architectural Planning: The house is located in Veracruz, Mexico, which is a beautiful city by the coast in the Gulf of Mexico, but it's a very warm city (the avg. temp. is 77° F but in the summer exceeds 100°F) so the windows placing is very important for lighting and ventilation. Another important points to take into account are the rain and wind because the wind comes from the NE and sometimes at 50mph or more and the rain flies from sideways, so we had to carefully plan where the windows will be placed and it's size. In addition to that, the house is located in a suburb called Punta Tiburón almost in front of the sea and it has it's own Golf Club, so there's nothing there to stop the wind force. At the end, we have made a good balance between efficiency and design.

Materials: The client also likes the minimalism. As you can see, the color palette is made with grayscales and chocolate wood color (he loves Chocolate color) and the clean and straight walls and floors keeps this minimalist design. Despite this, we tried to contrast the kitchen with this steel tiling on one of the walls, those tiles were perfect to bring some brightness to that area. The client loves it as much as we do. The stones and wood of the exteriors are a very curious matter because the client wanted dark stones to keep the color palette in the grayscale, but we thought that a yellowish wooden deck could be the perfect touch to bring some vibrant colors besides the green of the grass and plants. At the beginning they looked strange the yellow of the wood deck, but then they loved it.

And that's a part of the story of the E2 House. We hope you like this project as much as we do. Thanks for reading. ARQING.
