Beelding Architectuur & Stedenbouw designed a unique building that results into a particular image. A traditional masonry superstructure seems to float on a set of fluffy clouds. Started as a pilot project of the ministry of VWS (ministry of health, welfare and sport), it provides the complex shelter to an experimental children’s service centre. The initiative nourishes the ambition to be an expertise Centre for handicapped children. For starters, the building represents a new attitude of society towards the care of the disabled. This is also why it offers regular day-care and it is not located in a remote place , but exactly in the middle of Horst aan de Maas. All functions are organized in two storeys around one central outdoor playground. There all children play, with or without mental disabilities, in a safe, but adventurous mountain scenery.
