Klopf Architecture's goal was to create a harmonious center space for family and friends in a custom Mid-Century Modern home. The family, with teen / pre-teen kids at that time, was starting to enjoy cooking together and when they entertain guests, everyone gathers around the kitchen island to prepare group meals like home-made pasta. The challenges posed by this project: How can the flow of a small space be improved to create the center of a house? How can a mid-century modern house like this be updated without clashing with the original style?
