CREATIVE CARGO

CREATIVE CARGO

SPONGE as Architects

CREATIVE CARGO is an innovative concept for temporary area development regarding a modular system of stacked containers. This is deployed as an area booster for desolate and to be developed terrain. CREATIVE CARGO can be positioned anywhere in order to vitalize and highlight desolate terrain. Raisons for the development are the persisting demand of artists for cheap ateliers and the need of cities and developers to vitalize vacant grounds.

Developers welcome creative professionals as pioneers of an area development with open arms. The hitherto vacant terrain becomes an attractive and lively place because of the artists who claim the area. However, when the development of the terrain is continued, the artists are mostly in the way. Misunderstanding originates on both the artist and the developer side and the positive initiative gets an unpleasant touch. In CREATIVE CARGO artist and developer commit to a temporary alliance and from the beginning it is clearly stated that the creative minds can only use the terrain temporary. The developer offers the artists a temporary contract to lease the space and mobile facilities to pioneer. The creative hotspot is easily moveable. So once the development in one area is further elaborated, the infrastructure can be transmitted easily to another empty terrain.
