NAVELLO ... THAT BRANCH OF THE LAKE OF COMO Prestigious restoration with Navello windows
A villa of the 50s just a few steps from the center of Menaggio, on the Lake of Como, is the scenario of a deep renovation that expanded the living area of the building, retraining it from the energy point of view. The key elements that have allowed to obtain the certification in Class B were the insulation of the walls and the replacement of old windows with last generation fixtures.
The choice of architect Carlo Antonio Solano di Menaggio, author of the project, is gone on the windows Navello line Novecento, tailored in laminated wood with low-emission glazing filled with argon gas. In total 42 windows, including 7 arched, 5 french- doors with two sashes and 12 windows with one sash, in addition to a front door and a slatted front door, also arched. In continuity with the style of the house, a finishing etched in dark walnut color, applied with water-based paints has been chosen. The thermal transmittance of the window frames reaches a value Ug = 1.1, impacting significantly the cost of air conditioning in the house. The entire building has been redesigned inside and outside, making not only aesthetic but also functional changes. The attic, for example, has been recovered for residential use, while the old cellar, completely in stone and vaulted, has been restructured in order to obtain a basement with wine cellar air conditioning and a small kitchen, characterized by a glazed veranda overlooking the lake. Even the floors were completely redone using only granite and wood while for wall coverings was used shiny plaster. Outside, the intervention involved the placing of the dock and the remaking of vessels docking jetties, as well as the construction of a swimming pool at the garden level, of a new access driveway, of paving surrounding the house and the planting of ornamental shrubbery.
