A comprehensive school as a small town The building looks as a small town, with streets and squares, which connect the different parts right in the centre in the Assembly Hall, the heart of the community school. In this Central Pavilion, are the joint facilities of the community school: The library, the theatre space with a stage, the play locally, the workshop, and the central kitchen with coffee shop.
Design The subdivision into different pavilions, creates an airy building, which connects to the village-like scale. Each Pavilion has its own character and colors. Together they form a single whole.
Materials The pavilions have a warm inside of wood, in connection to the Interior. The exteriors are stony, of fibre-reinforced concrete, impact resistant and low maintenance. The exploiting opportunities for glass are complemented by wooden frames and uprights of the sustainable Accoya wood, creating a warm atmosphere.
