CMAP 2040 Innvoate Master Plan

CMAP

JGMA as Architects

JGMA developed a master plan scenario for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning’s (CMAP) comprehensive regional plan study for 2040. The scenario focuses on a possible transit oriented district at the convergence of the University of Illinois at Chicago Campus and Greektown. The concept envisions a future in which energy use is reduced through both supply-side and demand-side strategies. On the supply side, clean energy and fuel sources will be widely used and vehicle efficiency will be improved. On the demand side, new residential and commercial developments will use the latest techniques and technology in building and site design to reduce energy use. With the rapid advancement of technology, the city and university will continue to lead the way in innovation, where sustainable design and practices are the standard. This scenario advances the desire to connect the West Loop and University of Illinois at Chicago communities. Around the central core of the CTA Blue Line Station, the Eisenhower expressway is built over, stretching land physically between the North and South. The Energy Hub rises over the expressway circle interchange, and will employ energy harvesting technologies throughout the building to provide energy to the site and its surroundings. The most prominent feature is the smooth, narrow form of the spires that direct wind through turbines installed vertically along each tower. The Transportation Hub spans the length of this new land, over the CTA Blue Line. As a gateway to the city, it is the ideal location for the exchange of modes of transportation, where cars are parked and a variety of different transit options, such as trains, buses, segways, or bicycles, are available.
