The Châlet built in the 70ʼs includes several vacation apartments and is located on a privileged site with gorgeous view to the mountains. The typology and size of the functionalistic apartment plans did
not satisfy the needs of the new owner. The project transforms two three-room apartments into one generous two-story maisonette unit. The aim of this transformation was the revaluation of the quality of the interior space and the renovation of the sanitary installations. A special difficulty was the limited height of the two floors. The upper level is transformed into a continuous living/dining room with integrated, understated kitchen, which, if not used, appears like a piece of furniture. The carrying structure has been reduced into four steel pillars which are integrated in the two freestanding pieces of furniture, a library and a buffet, which subdivide the space into living, dining and office areas while allowing the visual continuity of the interior space. The glass balustrade of the staircase serves the same goal. The lower level is transformed into bedrooms. There are no alterations to the exterior appearance of the building.
