Catalina's Complex

OFFICES TOWER, CATALINA´S COMPLEX

Baudizzone-Lestard Arquitectos as Architects

The project is a Diamond that shines in “Catalinas Norte”. The tower would be recognized as an icon beside buildings, located in a prestigious an historical place that has made downtown to grow and get a relevant modern focus of interest where financials are placed. As city has been acknowledged because of it’s architecture and emblematic buildings, new projects has to set into urban but be unique having own identity, being sufficient enough, and including one of last years preoccupation, having a big environment responsibility development. We have to remember that a unique functional and efficient building means more ratability. Environment care, far from being an empty statement, gets strong about saving in repairing, safeguarding, and operation. These topics must not represent higher prices, but a design with intention.

The triangular surface has a big east front face, looking above the river and the whole place in north dock, its shapes get recognizable everywhere, and can be seen from “Solares de Santa María” to whole “Puerto Madero”

The slight faceting of the plan, not only gets into a very particular volume, but its size get a bigger dimension than real. The image of a diamond begins to get noticeable, white color all over the volume that get the idea of own sustainability more evident, reflecting heat, and getting separated from buildings beside. In the city brownish gray or white is a symbol of modernity, prestige and strength, as are diamonds.

A triangular site comes with problem of use of its ends. By transforming the edges of the volume in double facades with small balconies, gardens and settle there ventilation and insulation issues, trouble about geometry and representativeness are solved with minimal costs. It speeds up the volume; it makes him appear taller, competing better with its neighbors. The three edges, small balconies transformed into green, natural draft deals with three key landscapes in the city: The port with Tandanor in the foreground, Puerto Madero and Avenida Libertador.
