CASAS 33

The project consists of three holiday apartments for a big family of two parents and married sons. Units are located in Cachagua, a village 200 kilometers north of Santiago, Chile, right in front of the Pacific Ocean. The 3.000 square meter plot was divided in two parts. First one was used for the grandparent's apartment, placed on a higher plateau with the best views. Second plot has two apartments, one for each son. They are placed on the more sharply inclined part of the property, by the rocks and beside the sea, right below the higher plateau. These units are connected by an indoor stairway and a common playground, while entrances are separated by ramps, stairs and an exterior elevator. Both parts of the plot are crossed by a little creek, as part of the winding coastal geography of the area. This setting hampered the views over the sea, reason why both of the sons' apartments were especially placed with the purpose of filling-in the creek. The result was a roof garden with a pool extending the natural plateau of the apartment on the top of the property. This new place allowed direct views towards the sea, like in a dock, where the three families can gather together.
