CASA MARIAM

Antonio Altarriba Arquitecto as Architects

The house is a response to the site where it sits, with the southern part inside the plot and the north facing the street. Conceptually speaking consists of a volume for the day area on the ground floor, dressed externally with white plaster for the rear areas, and wood for the front, and another volume to the sleeping area located on the top floor, covered with phyllite stone , which is supported by the lower volume and flies in the south and west side.

The two volumes are connected together via a recess that allows a spatial relationship of the lower level to the upper, and where the ladder is situated. Is intended to eliminate all kinds of visual barriers and much means this intersection is empty, so the ladder and catwalk occupying this place materialize through light elements, steel, glass and wood, which allow direct recognition from space.

The proposal aims to divide the uses of housing in area day on, always connected to the garden through large windows that allow melt the interior and exterior, and sleeping area for the upstairs floor where the three bedrooms are located two sharing a bathroom, and bedroom suite is equipped with a double orientation and "flies" over the pool.

The ground floor volume for its size also is pierced by a vacuum that connects to the basement, and makes the light reach all interior points of the house.

The ground floor has three bands, the south side, which gives direct access to garden and pool with the living-dining-kitchen, all open plan and connected to each other, the center which is where the stairs and the yard is situated, and side-north which is where the laundry room, a toilet and a guest bedroom suite is.

The set is topped with the pool, which has all the dimension of the west side of the lower volume, and that apart from performing the usual functions, is conceived as an architectural element and sheet of water that greets visitors and guides you to the entrance of the house.
