Commissioned by Woonconcept Vastgoed, B+O Architecture and Interior have designed a housing complex for the care organisation Jannes van der Sleedenhuis.
The nursing home that previously existed on the Eisenhowerstraat has been demolished and is replaced by buildings in multiple locations on the site. One of these locations is the green triangle between Mr. Cramerweg, the Valkenlaan and the Wolfsbosstraat.
Between the school that is present in the green triangle and the apartment complex ‘Valkenstede’ there will be a housing complex with 60 care-apartments and 29 apartments. The complex will have the look of a pavilion in green.
In plan the complex consists of a cross with four floors. The floors jump 1.2 m in a south-eastern direction towards each other. Due to this, an architectural ‘blind’ will be created, existing to prevent excessive solar heating of the south facing rooms. The floors have been conceived as concrete discs protruding outwards through the façade to create balconies. This combined with the glass walls will result in a transparent building.
All hallways open up to a large atrium in the centre of the building. All common areas are located here, as well as the stairways and elevators.
