The new $264 million, 510,000 square-foot Terminal A/B is a major highlight of the ongoing $1.8 billion expansion project at BWI.

The addition provides a 26-gate concourse facility for Southwest Airlines, the largest carrier at BWI, and includes a spacious ticket lobby, large baggage claim area, moving sidewalks and many new food and retail concessions.

A Cambridge Architectural Meshellaneous system created the mesh form which wraps the structure that elevates the roof. Metal fabric panels cover and enclose the end of the new terminal building’s exterior. The metal fabric panels are illuminated at night for a unique architectural effect.

Approximately 16,000 square feet of Cambridge’s Balance metal fabric pattern and J-Hook tension attachment hardware creates the Meshellaneous mesh system, which features 55% open area.
