Located in Dubai's business bay, Gemini is a mixed use Hotel and Service Apartment building. Situated at an edge of waterfront and visual proximity to Burj Khalifa the design takes advantage of the magnificent views of the surrounding area. The design takes shape in the two precision sculpted objects which house the necessary program requirements of the hotel and service apartments. The two elements are split to not only create the necessary separation between the to entities but to also create a unique arrival experience that is both memorable and iconic to the project. The two elements are then in turn connected by a floating plinth that serves as a elevated garden for both the hotel visitors and service apartment residents. The project also takes advantage of a skin concept that mitigates the hot Dubai summers. The louvers that clad the wrap around balconies allow for maximum views while at the same time minimizing solar heat gain.
