The Bitterzoutloods is a former storage and trans-shipment building on the site of the former Enka factory in Ede. It is part of the national Industrial Heritage program. The Enka terrain is currently being developed from a rayon factory into a mixed-use area for dwelling, working and recreation. Culture, history and the existing monuments have an important function in the program development of the area.
Within the existing Bitterzoutloods building, luxurious and spacious lofts have been developed for different target groups. From family-sized lofts, garden lofts and studio lofts to combined work/live lofts, each space offers an efficient space with high quality design for different groups while simultaneously limiting risks for the client.
Every apartment type is designed around the existing spatial qualities offered by the monument: a fantastic structure of heavy brick walls and industrial steel trusses are combined with traditional details and spacious living in a series of loft apartments.
