Bismuth Bivouac - Jon Leung

Bismuth Bivouac

Wewanttolearn as Architects

WeWantToLearn.net are a postgraduate design studio from the University of Westminster in London known for it’s study of parametric systems, creative flair and rigorous physical and material testing in a search for new architectures.Over the past two years our design studio has successfully built three projects at the Burning Man Festival and this year, with your help we hope to do the same.

The bismuth bivouac is a structure inspired by the geometric growth patterns of bismuth crystals - the stepping, orthogonal geometries converge into the centre of the cubic pavilion, where a sheltered sanctuary can be found for participants to recuperate from the desert, providing shade and shelter.

The proposal will sit on the playa as an wooden cubic monolith for participants to discover and explore, and at night when darkness falls, the structure will be transformed, illuminated by colourful lighting, to mimic the mesmerizing iridescent colours of bismuth crystals.

Please take a look at our Kickstarter and donate and share where you can. Every contribution will go towards making three projects a reality at Burning man 2015.
