ATP architects engineers as Architects

A concept study by ATP architects engineers (Frankfurt) for Bilfinger Hochbau GmbH led to the company being commissioned to design a new office building in Ludwigshafen.

Two separate building volumes close to the city center respond to both the strong edges of the urban district and the looser structure of the neighboring residential areas. This leads to the creation of two built areas of equal size which are structured by green courtyards and open spaces. The open terraces become integrated leisure spaces which offer an attractive extension to the working environment.

The volumes are connected at ground floor level by a transparent link containing circulation spaces and some public activities. Particular attention was paid to the cool, classic façade design, the ecological components and the open spaces.

The vertical perforated metal façade elements which, together with the horizontal story-edges, structure the building, lend the streetscape a sense of urbanity.

A holistic energy concept employs efficient building services technology with a high level of effectiveness to guarantee a high level of energy efficiency and a state-of-the-art building envelope to reduce thermal losses. The façades permit natural ventilation. The design aims to achieve an ecological and long-lasting way of building which focuses on the use of local renewable materials, the durability of building elements and materials and the ease of maintenance and cleaning of the technical components.
