ArtimoTextiles is a specialized whole saler in curtain fabrics, situated in Roosendaal. The contract was foran extension toexisting commercial space, consisting of a showroom and offices.
All Artimo units, from warehouse to boardroom, are considered of equal importance. On the basis of this equality there was to be no distinction in appearance between existing warehouse and extension.
The concept is based on an uniform architectural solution. The highly graphical impact of the fronts of the existing commercial space formed the basic principle for the meta morphosis. North Sea gravel filled baskets and zinc roof’s edges provided the structure with powerful plasticity. The structure’s frontal monumental aspect withits sturdy materials outside forms a great contrast with the fine curtain fabrics inside.
The themes brightness, transparency, equality, lines of sight, and short walking routes were the basic principles for the solution applied to interior and floor plans. Installed materiality is purposely understated.
