WHEN LINES GUIDE EYES

DJAKOB photo'graphics design as Photographers

Austrian photographer Daniela Jakob has an interesting approach to architectural photography; she likes to compare buildings with each other and find the beauty in banality as much as to work out clear forms from unusual complexity. The breadth of her work spans a number of different forms, materials, times and is anything but straight and traditional architectural photography. Jakob’s great motivation guides her eyes to the specific details, teasing out that so called „i - point“, which each architecture provides and affects us with a different view. Her architectural work has a certain fine art tinge to it.

The photographs never feel sterile or over-produced. Her frequent inclusion of people in her architectural work reminds us that a beautiful building can be meant to be lived in, while at the same time, capturing a delicate play of light and shadow or the relationship between human, nature and the building. In this portfolio, Jakob does not have an ostentatious bubbly-building or an oversized nest, but nevertheless finds a way to capture the strong lines, perspectives and reflections, which give her buildings their objective personality with the typical lyric view from her eye.
