Apartment “Ahuehuetes”

Apartment “Ahuehuetes”

Grupo7 as Architects

“In Mexico, in the past 15 to 10 years ago, high end apartment developments offered as plain spaces, without walls or any plumbing or electrical installations. So a complete design is required. This apartment has two floors. The 1rst level has 300 sq mt, wich include a terrace, and where the public area and service area are located. First of all, as mentioned, we received the space only with windows and the first action was to separate each window and set them free in their own rail so you could open the public area completely to the terrace and enjoy the 18 mt front. As you enter you find a stone box which contains the kitchen pantry and guest bathroom witch articulate this level together with a wall or division made in tropical wood and glass that runs parallel to the terrace, enabling privacy to these spaces from the service area and the rest of the apartment. Our intention was to combine wood and stone, so we made a wooden layer that runs on one side of the apartment wrapping around the stone box and witch seems to float as the stone floor wraps underneath the wooden wall as well. On the second level you find three rooms, each with walk in closet and bathrooms, for which we tried to design and fabricate everything including the sinks and countertops, which are made of “Cesarstone”. On the second floor we also located the familyroom, witch again combine wooden walls made of walnut, but in this level we put wooden floors for coziness. To integrate this in the design we made a book shelf than in its horizontal structure is made of walnut and its vertical pieces it is made with same light color wood as the floors.”
