AP penthouse

this Duplex penthouse on the top floor of a contemporary (2010) building, is designed to capture the beautifull "utraviolet" light of Greece, from the windows surrounding all the walls in the open main space, and using "light"furniture. the space is divided in 2 floors with a wood internal stairs; the lowest floor has the main entrance in an open space living- dining -kitchen room, with the main terraces, a toilet and a common area with the twin-penthouse apartment at the same floor. in this way we obtained a plan with overlooking in 4 directions (north-east-south-west!). this is the main space of the house, with everthing happens, with a little BACKGAMMON corner, and a big chimney for the mild weatherwinter. the highest floor under the roof has 3 bedroom, a suite-one with toilet and a little living room inside, and a big toilette for the other 2 double rooms. to be in one of the biggest commercial Port of west ionian Greece was the inspiration of using the materials of the nautical interiors and technique: wood (stairs, furniture); metal and steel (kitchen, stairs, floors); rope(furniture and lights, carpets); glass; stone (like the typical architecture in epiro, this region, different from the eagean style) all combined with some modern materials, like Corian(customed furniture on the design, kitchen). the same for the colours palette, natural and neutral color with some strong point of colour, with a white base, and natural materials at sight. the custom made kitchen and some customized furniture are combined in an eclectic way with classical design pieces, and artistic pieces of local artists; some christian orthodox icon and vintage local furniture pieces typical of the little restaurants; the same for lightings. the atmosphere we obtained is like in the tavern on the port where life flows eating, drinking and dancing till late in the greek nights....
