This luxury residential resort project is located on 6.6 hectares at the tip of the Liao Dong Peninsula in northeast China. It includes seven luxurious villas/mansions and 64,000 sqm of townhouse and condominium units, along with clubhouse and retail components. The overall goal is to maximize a sense of openness throughout the site and reduce the apparent density of the buildings by closely relating them to the surrounding geography. The residential mix of villas, townhouses and condominium types share a language of great rooms punctuated with bays and inglenooks, creating a variety of optimal unit plans while maintaining the continuity of the elevations and character. All of the buildings use a series of elements, including protruded bays, trellises, canopies, roof terraces and gardens, to establish a range of scales and connections with the landscape. Traditional materials are embellished with layers of glassy bands, projections and loggias to bring maximum daylight into the units. Green sod roofs have also been incorporated.
The project is unified by corridors of open space that weave across the site, providing places for social gathering while optimizing breezes and views for residents. The Clubhouse contains a golf driving range and is configured in a series of three pavilions set in a lake. Each pavilion has its own function – pool, spa, restaurant/café – and is oriented to provide panoramic views over the lake to the sea beyond.
