The design challenge for the Aldershot Care Facility was to create a new exemplar of what a care home could be for the 21st century, where residents would have their dignity enhanced by the quality of their environment. Our building and architectural precedents are collegiate in tone and aura – courtyards and enclosures create a sanctuary and provide gardens of pleasure and delight that encourage the therapy of nature.
Our brief was to accommodate an 81 bed care facility with an additional 18 assisted living units. Communal facilities and circulation are planned around an internal landscaped courtyard, which will offer views into a calming and light environment. At a technical level the scheme has been developed in strict accordance with National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Older People.
