Our clients approached us with a traditional cottages style detached home that they were looking to modernise for their family and brood of four dogs. Whilst they were keen to keep some of the traditional aesthetic, their desire was for a modern minimalist look. The perfect kind of project, you can really play with design, incorporating the simple aspects of the cottage with our characteristic chromatic and highly polished luxury approach to interiors.
As with most of our projects, there was a real emphasis on the narrative of the house; how the spaces merge into one another and how this reflects function. However, our cottage clients wanted to take this one step further - we were to consider how the spaces and rooms transform between day and night; the duality of space reflected in their functionality.
To do this we brought used a monochromatic theme that will easily adapt to the different light spectrums of day and night, whilst also creating continuity between rooms. This is best highlighted between the living room and the piano room, where the thoroughfare created by knocking through the wall creates a dramatic sense of elegance.
Balancing a sense of serenity with luxury, we developed a property that exudes class without trickling into the realms of ostentation.
