ROCKPANEL launches new production line for innovative façade panels

ROCKPANEL launches new production line for innovative façade panels, following investment of € 23.6 million

Rockpanel as Manufacturers

ROCKPANEL, the manufacturer of sustainable and innovative façade panels, launched a new production line today for its ever expanding range of façade panels. The official opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Stef Blok (Dutch Minister of Housing and Civil Service), Mr. Mark Gerardts (Managing Director ROCKPANEL), Mr. Ole Moesby (Ambassador for Denmark in The Netherlands) and Mr. Eelco van Heel (CEO ROCKWOOL International) who together activated the new production line during the ceremony. This new production line represents a strategic investment of € 23.6 million, and is vital for ROCKPANEL in meeting increasing demand for its innovative products. The construction of this new production plant represents a significant economic investment in the Roermond region of The Netherlands by an international company.

During his presentation Minister Stef Blok emphasized the importance of improving sustainable, energy efficient houses in The Netherlands. “The government has made funds available for making both rental and owned houses more energy-efficient. Households will therefore enjoy the benefits of lower housing costs. The government also stimulates employment in construction industry. In these economic times it is notable that ROCKPANEL is investing in the Roermond region of the Netherlands,” said Minister Stef Blok.

Significant contribution “We are confident that ROCKPANEL will strengthen its position in the European market for façade panels, and will continue to contribute significantly to the success of the ROCKWOOL Group,” said Eelco van Heel, CEO of ROCKWOOL.

Demand “The new production line has been constructed in response to the demand from our customers who value the aesthetic and technical aspects and the sustainable characteristics of our products. In addition, the launch of the new production line enables us to deliver on our international expansion strategy. Today, at ‘Sustainability Day’ it is a clear sign of our confidence in ROCKPANEL’s future growth plans in which efficient use of raw materials and recycling are of key importance,” said Mark Gerardts, Managing Director of ROCKPANEL.

Production capacity The new state-of-the-art production line in Roermond will triple the production capacity of ROCKPANEL façade panels. Sales of low maintenance façade panels have grown rapidly over recent years. ROCKPANEL’s business has developed and grown in countries such as The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and Denmark and this additional production capacity will allow ROCKPANEL to expand into new European countries.

Important criteria: growing demand and sustainability Alongside meeting the growing demand for sustainable façade panels in its current markets, the additional production capacity is crucial to meet the increasing demand for ROCKPANEL products in new markets. ROCKPANEL recognizes that architects are increasingly seeking to use a variety of materials, textures and colours in façade design. This is evident in both new build and renovation projects for which energy and aesthetic aspects are important. Sustainability is also increasingly becoming key to material choices for building projects. The environmental performance of ROCKPANEL façade panels has been tested by the British Building Research Establishment (BRE) and awarded the highest A+ and A performance ratings in the construction cycle.

This is because ROCKPANEL is manufactured from the natural raw and sustainable material basalt and like all ROCKWOOL products, it is fully recyclable. This certification by BRE establishes ROCKPANEL as an independently recognized sustainable choice. Furthermore, ROCKWOOL products are recognized and positioned highly in the rankings of the national environment databases. These ranking shows ROCKWOOL’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
