Casa 3

Raimondo Guidacci as Architects

This two-family house is located in Orsara di Puglia (south Italy), in a hill slope called Piano Paradiso. The house is composed by an underground level, designed as garage, a groundfloor and an attic. The main feature of this project is the roof, indeed it is modelled by the combination of three different skillion roofs with opposite orientation: two pointed towards the town centre and one oriented to the mountains. The entrance is placed on one side, connected with a minor street running along the slope. The building is completely white painted, except for the rearward terraces, where the walls are grey-cement painted. Old roof tiles, coming from stripped out rural buildings, are re-used in the coating roof. All the exterior pavements are made with smooth concrete and doorsteps and window sills are in Apricena stone.

Both façades are characterized by deep loggias with wide windows in order to provide a complete view of the garden. Thanks to the angular columns, the house seems suspended from the ground. Using white plaster, limestone and straw yellow roof tiles, this house is completely connected with the natural environment.
