“modul space“ from Bosse – Samsung Electronics GmbH

Dauphin as Manufacturers

Customisable standard furniture instead of custom-made products

A flexible range of modular furniture for fitting out central areas in "open space" offices was needed – prestigious new products for one group division but which can be used at other sites too. The solution: "Bosse Dialounge" with new working areas for employees and management, reception areas and conference rooms – all created from "modul space" from Bosse – plus tailor-made seating from Dauphin and Züco.

The rise of the electronics manufacturer Samsung Electronics is an example to the entire industry. As one of the few "globalisers", Samsung has seized on the digital revolution and developed into one of the leading electronics groups.

The German headquarters of Samsung Electronics and other well-known global companies are located at the "Gewerbegebiet Nord" – an industrial park in Schwalbach am Taunus in the suburban area surrounding Frankfurt. Around 950 people work for the Korean "big player" there, the majority of them in open-place office landscapes, so-called "open space" offices. This modern large-office format allows anything from intense individual work to dynamic teamwork and communicative discussions thanks to clever, well-equipped central areas.

In addition to office equipment such as printers, copiers or fax machines, there are separate areas allowing not only privacy in the open-plan room but also communal interaction when working. To ensure that staff can work together and relax at the same time in these "marketplaces", those responsible for the refurbishment were on the lookout for versatile furniture with a timeless design. They wanted furniture which can be used in a wide variety of ways – with multifunctional islands in the middle of the open-plan room for creative breaks or intensive brainstorming.

They were won over by the "Dialounge" solutions from Bosse Design, a brand of the DHDG. These are sofas with fixed upholstery and high backrests as well as loose seat and backrest cushions in various fabrics and materials – all based on the "modul space" modular furniture system. The great design freedom lies in the combination of various tube lengths, the wide range of different system panels available and the integration of various items of occasional furniture such as small fixed tables with electrification. This allows customized solutions without special designs having to be produced individually.

Seating solutions are not the only things that can be created with the sophisticated "Dialounge" units from Bosse. Office equipment can also be accommodated discreetly and even attractive coffee bars are possible. The consistent design helps to create a harmonious overall picture. The "Dialounge" sofa islands are complemented by standing/sitting work islands from "modul space". The high-quality white lacquered surfaces are fire-retardant and reinforce the tidy, business-like look of the overall décor.

The constructional principle behind the "modul space" furniture system and the high quality of the individual components won over the management at Samsung and are used not only in central areas but also in 15 individual managerial offices, at various secretarial workstations, in 20 conference rooms and in an open-plan library area.

The premium, timeless furniture architecture is flanked by the ergonomic "Lordo" office swivel chair from Dauphin. Its easy-to-use automatic adjustment system guarantees a comfortable sitting position instantly. Its distinctive, almost architectural design fits perfectly into the overall scenario. The same applies to the elegant "Lacinta" office chair from Züco. With its unique look, it is a comfortable feature in the refurbished conference rooms.
