Sint-Augustinus Hospital Wilrijk

STRABAG Belgium nv as Contractors

Sint-Augustinus started up the a construction master plan "Oosterveld" in 2006. STRABAG Belgium was responsible for the second phase of this project: the demolition of the nunnery and the closed carcass of a new hospital building with 6 storeys (of which 4 aboveground levels). The new building was realized using sustainable materials while the chapel and a part of the external wall have been restored. The site covers an area of 7,974 m². Secant pile walls and screw piles were used in this teamconcept reference which has various wall claddings. Brown façade stones were used up to the ground floor, while a ventilated façade cladding was used from the first floor, consisting of 30 x 60 cm ceramic tiles. A drainage preceded the realization of the waterproof cellar.

Next, after the completion of the hospital in 2010, STRABAG Belgium also realized the T-block. This project involved the enlargement of an existing operating room and the expansion of an existing block at the Sint-Augustinus site. STRABAG was responsible for the open carcass of the new building and the demolition of the existing façade of the T-block. Soldier pile walls were used during the realization of the project and the total project area measures 2500 m².
