Casa futebol

1 WEEK 1 PROJECT as Architects

The project “Casa Futebol” proposes a reappropriation of the stadiums renovated or built for the World Cup using modules of housing of a surface of 105 m ². It is not a question of denying the interest of Brazilians people for the soccer, otherwise of proposing an alternative in the deficit of housing.

Stadiums will continue to be used, receiving soccer matches, a part of the ganancies of which can finance the construction and the maintenance of the houses.

It is thus a question of replacing a part of the sets by prefabricated housing and of colonizing the outside facade. “Casa Futebol” proposes a human scale in these disproportionate constructions.

More about Casa Futebol: For a country with an estimated shortage of 5.2 million homes, the main idea is to give an architectural answer to the brazilian housing deficit.

The project cover the 12 brazilian stadiums, we insert prefabricated housing in these 12 stadiums, changing the seats by housing following the slop of the stadium. There are actually 6 stadiums we can colonise the exterior facade. These six stadiums are the national stadium of brazilia, the Mineirao stadium, the Arena fonte Nova, the maracana, Arena Castelao ans the Arena das Duna. 5 stadiums on these 6 have an exterior structure composed of concrete of metal columns seperated by 7 or 8 meters. We just have to insert prefabricated housing using the existing structure.

It's about 315 housing units for the exterior and 315 units interior for the national stadium of brazilia It's an approximation, but we think that between 1500 and 2000 people could be housed in each stadium . So it's a total of: 20 000 approx. We would like to bring people to questionate themselves about the socials contexts that always accompaniate those programs. The stadiums are so absurdly big, and the housing issues in Brazil are so real. The stadium of Cape Town from 2010 world Cup in South Africa has hosted only seven soccer matches in four years.

The country which build this type of equipment should think about the day after. They have to incorporate in the architectural competition a multi functional program to keep this stadium alive after the events.
