Dallas City Performance Hall

Corgan worked in collaboration with Skidmore Owings & Merrill on the design of the Dallas City Performance Hall. The Dallas Arts District is home to a number of world-class performing arts venues and is the largest cultural district in the United States. As the most recent addition to the Arts District, the Dallas City Performance Hall was intended as a prime venue for a substantial number of local performance groups, earning its reputation as a true “Village of the Arts.” The project was commissioned by the City of Dallas with no philanthropic contributions from the private sector. However, the Performance Hall exemplifies one of the most technically functional, user-oriented and cost conscious performing arts facilities in the country today. The Performance Hall is notable for providing a simple and elegant interior with a professional level of technical capability and a design of unusual acoustic flexibility for a wide variety of performance types. The project has been honored with the 2013 American Architecture Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and recognized with the 2013 Frank Lloyd Wright Award from the Illinois AIA.
