The Shape Shifting Pavilion was designed to be a special interactive functional art structure, in which to gather together with friends. The structure is made of sustainably grown painted wood. It consists of eight identical segments that are made from four slotted panels. Each of the slotted panels are hinged together so that each of them can be moved and fastened into various positions along the vertical support frame. This allows for a great deal of interactivity with the structure in order to radically change its shape. The shape shifting of the structure can be done to control the amount of light that enters the pavilion. It can also be done to adjust the amount of privacy required, or it can be done to just have fun changing the shape of the structure.
There are seven benches built into the perimeter of the inside of the pavilion that allow fourteen people to sit comfortably. In addition, there is a large movable table that can be placed in the center of the floor with access from all of the benches. The top of the table can be removed to reveal a small alcohol burning fire element, built into the top of the tables support column. At the center of the top support frame of the pavilion, there is a large lamp that illuminates the Shape Shifting Pavilion at night.
