FIORE HOUSE

Soldini is located 15 km from Rosario, Argentina. In this small town, the boundary between the urban area and its agricultural environment is remarkable defined. In Soldini, there´s no gradual decrease of its infrastructure and building density to its edges, but a clear and abrupt interruption of the urban grid versus the vastness of the surrounding fields. The lot for this house is located on the western edge of the town. Due to its size, 9.60 x 40 m long, the client wanted a one-level residence. In relation to the street and defining the visual cone of the house to the rural landscape, the entrance space is a shaded area designed as a gathering place and garage. Once inside, the house is organized into two program areas. One public wing containing the kitchen, living and dining area, is facing east overlooking the back garden. The other one -for intimate uses- is facing north in order to capture direct sunlight all day. These two sectors are linked through a transparent diagonal corridor that creates two small indoor courtyards. The entire circulation area has the higher roof slab level in order to allow the admission of natural light over the dining room and all along the hallway that leads to the bedrooms. As we walk through the house, we maintain a constant visual relationship between the backyard, the inner courtyards and the shaded area facing the agricultural landscape. Through these visual leaks, fragments of the endless Pampas horizon begin to form part of everyday life.
