Dedicated to members of Germany's Bundeswehr killed in combat, the “Forest of Remembrance” memorial was established on the grounds of the former Henning-Von-Tresckow-Barracks in Schwielowsee, Brandenburg, Germany. The fallen soldiers names have been engraved on plaques spread around the new “Wald der Erinnerung”. Visitors start their route through the memorial site by walking through the reception building. Illuminated information panels consisting of weatherproof Lightpanels line the route on both sides. One of the illuminated walls is almost fourteen metres long. A total of 26 Lightpanels were installed in a row on both walls inside and provided with imprinted films. Owing to the “frameless” design, the entire visible surface is homogeneously illuminated up to the edge. This allows distribution of the images such as the picture of the forest over several Lightpanels without disturbing the visual impression. The lighting technology of the Lightpanels is splash-proof; a circumferential hood consisting of acrylic glass provides additional protection against the weather. The LEDs (4000k) emit neutral white light which is ideal for printed images.
