Haptic House

dexter moren associates as Architects

Haptic House is based on the concept of 'sensory play', the dolls' house encourages children to look, listen, touch and feel. A series of components, identical in character, which aim to inspire children, bring the house to life by stimulating the primary senses. Unlike conventional Doll's House design, the 360-degree access means there are no defined rules of how it should be played -inviting the option of group play or individual discovery.

Haptic House

Cathedral Group Ltd as Developers

Based on the concept of 'sensory play', Dexter Moren Associates' Doll's House encourages children to look, listen, touch & feel. The House is a series of components, identical in character, which aim to inspire children, bringing the house to life by stimulating the primary senses;

Sight -‐ motion sensors trigger the illumination of coloured Perspex blocks Sound -‐ doorbells are fitted to 'push' building blocks Touch -‐ material-‐covered blocks use bright, patterned, tactile fabrics

The units stack atop of one another just like building blocks to create a playful form that, with a reflective base, creates the illusion of soaring tower. Each open block unit is an unrestricted form that offers children a platform to imagine without limits. Rather than being overwhelmed by unfamiliar shapes children are given a sense of place & sanctuary to fully engage their senses.

Unlike the conventional Doll's House design, The House' 360-‐degree access means there are no defined rules of how it should be played or interacted with -‐inviting the option of group play or individual discovery.
