Nurse call system at the Association for the Physically Disabled in Stuttgart

Gira as Electrical installation systems

"The young men ages 27-41 live together in their first own homes and lead independent lives," reported Benedikt Bädker, Area Director of the Association for the Physically Disabled in Stuttgart (KBV). They are supported as necessary by qualified care personnel. The KBV rented the attic flat from Nestwerk, a non-profit foundation.

The building is bright and colourful. A bright 270 m² flat with high rooms and exposed ceiling beams was created in the attic. The seven single rooms of the residential communities are approximately 15 m² large. They were designed individually by the occupants and their families. The flat is supervised around the clock by the KBV. Few structured times should allow occupants as much flexibility as possible.

The technology is one of the factors which ensures fast assistance if necessary. The flat is completely equipped with the Gira nurse call system which was coupled to a DECT system by electrician Martin Krämer from SKS Elektrotechnik. If a distress call is triggered, it is forwarded to the DECT system and mobile DECT devices of the care personnel. Two mobile devices display the calls in plain text.

The Gira call button from the Gira nurse call system which can be used to send a distress call is located at the bed in each resident room, in the common kitchen and in the bathrooms. If necessary residents can alert the personnel using a pull-cord button.
