Zea is a surfacing material made from corn husks. Designed for indoor use, the material is hand woven, to bind the corn husks together. The material also incorporates a non-woven fabric, and paper as a backing.
The husks are held together by a water-based adhesive, and the total thickness is approximately 2mm.

The result is an opaque wood-like material that comes with a striped pattern. The husks are arranged in strips approximately 15mm wide, and the narrow spacing in between shows the translucent backing. Zea has a rough finish and a protective topcoat. It comes in rolls approximately 1m wide and of variable length between 10m and 20m, and specific, customised designs are available on request. This is possible due to the production technique: Zea is woven on a loom and can be altered to suit different requirements.

Zea is not suitable for areas that are subject to bright light or moisture. It is applicable as a finishing for walls, large surfaces or furniture. There is some variation in its natural colour, as a result of the processed
